The Thief

The Thief in Oslo is one of the hotels that pays Gramo to perform recorded music for their guests, and we are inspired by their awareness and thoughts on the use of music. Hotel director Robert Holan gives us a little insight into how music and art can be an important tool for creating the right atmosphere.

-The Thief is known as an art hotel, which means that art and culture are extremely important to us. Music is art and something that we use actively to set the right mood in the house.

We have designed our own playlists and have different music in the different areas. This is adjusted according to the time of day and the number of guests in the house. We know how crucial "ambience" is for our guests and how important the sound level and the right type of music is for a good overall experience. We use music actively as a tool for well-being and to create an atmosphere, and we are constantly developing our playlists and adapting them to different seasons.

We have a number of concepts where music is central and which help to underpin our focus on art and culture.

THIEF MUSIC

Thief Music takes place regularly throughout the year and are intimate concerts with established artists. Thief Music Unplugged is our concept for new, unsigned artists who get a stage to present their work.

In addition, we have introduced Thief Noir, which is a new concept where we mix poetry, theater and music in an exciting and mysterious packaging.

We work with music in this way to create a total experience for our resident guests, to attract guests from outside and, not least, to keep us relevant and attractive. We know that music is one of the most important elements in creating an atmosphere.
