ISRC is the recording identification number, short for International Standard Recording Code.

ISRC is comparable to ISBN on books and ISWC on compositions.

ISRC codes are an important tool in the industry, also internationally, not least for the identification of the recording to be  by streaming services.

The code consists of 12 digits.

The first seven characters are predetermined and consists of registrant code and year. The last five digits are optional.

How does the ISRC work?

You can only get the registrant code from Gramo or others authorized to assign codes, you cannot make one yourself. You do not have to be a member of Gramo to be assigned a registrant code and ISRC.
