Gramo 2024: Technological boost and record payments to licensees
Gramo has had a busy year with technological innovation, strengthened management and increased payments to rights holders. The 2024 annual report shows that Gramo's work contributes to a fairer and more efficient value chain for recorded music – to the benefit of performers, producers and music users alike.
More than 150 million kroner paid out individually
Throughout the year, a total of NOK 73.6 million was paid to performing artists and NOK 76.6 million to producers of sound recordings. This is the highest payment ever from Gramo. Over 90 percent of the remuneration was settled and paid individually, based on detailed data. The members, through the annual meeting, decide on the use of the last part that is not possible to distribute individually.
Strong economy and new technology
Gramo's operating revenues ended at NOK 266.4 million – an increase of almost 6 percent from the previous year. At the same time, investments were made in new systems for automatic content recognition and artificial intelligence, which provide a better overview of music usage and ensure more precise payments.
Better insight into music usage
A new survey among Norwegian stores, restaurants and fitness centers gives Gramo an overview of which sources are used when they use recorded music in their business. With new agreements and data sources, we can now monitor usage even more closely – and pay out more correctly to artists, musicians and record labels/producers.
Updated regulations and new complaints procedure
In 2024, the board adopted new distribution regulations and established an independent dispute resolution mechanism, in line with the CRM Act. This strengthens legal certainty for members and facilitates more transparency and predictability.
New strategy and co-location with TONO
Gramo has adopted a new strategic plan for 2025–2027, with a focus on digitalization, collaboration and increased user orientation. It has also been decided that Gramo will move into new premises at Kongens gate 12 in central Oslo in the spring of 2026 – together with several other music organizations.

– We don't just manage rights – we manage trust. That's why we work every day to develop a more open, efficient and future-oriented organization, says CEO Kim Skarning Andersen.
